SAALBAU SESSIONS – Filmpremiere im Rahmen der Trial & Error Konferenz

Die SAALBAU SESSIONS sind ein 30-minütiger Musik- und Tanzfilm, entstanden im Theater
Saalbau in Witten. Eine Woche lang zog eine frei verbundene Gruppe von Musiker*innen,
Tänzer*innen und Filmschaffenden in das Gebäude ein – und verwandelte es in ein
lebendiges Labor für Musik, Bewegung und Begegnung.
Die Performances führen durch das ganze Haus: vom Leuchtboden über verborgene
Zwischengänge bis zum großen Saal. Spontane Chöre, unerwartete Bühnenbilder und ein
gemeinsames Ausprobieren vor und hinter der Kamera machen den Film zu einem
Dokument gelebter Kollaboration und Spielfreude.
Die SAALBAU SESSIONS verweben fünf Musik- und eine Tanzperformance mit Eindrücken
aus dem Alltag der Residenz. Kamera, Licht und Raum werden spielerisch herausgefordert.
Entstanden ist ein Film, der weniger eine perfekte Inszenierung zeigt als vielmehr ein
Zeugnis kollektiver Energie.
Die erste öffentliche Aufführung des Films findet im Rahmen der Trial & Error-Konferenz in
Hannover statt. Passend zum Festival-Motto wird die Premiere von dem Geist getragen, der
den Film selbst möglich gemacht hat: Gemeinschaft und das Feiern von Experimenten.

SAALBAU SESSIONS – Film premiere as part of the Trial & Error Conference

The SAALBAU SESSIONS is a 30-minute music and dance film created at the Theater
Saalbau in Witten. For one week, a loosely affiliated group of musicians,
dancers, and filmmakers moved into the building – and transformed it into a
living laboratory for music, movement, and encounter.
The performances take place throughout the entire building: from the illuminated floor to hidden
passageways to the large hall. Spontaneous choirs, unexpected stage sets, and
joint experimentation in front of and behind the camera make the film a
document of lived collaboration and joyful play.
The SAALBAU SESSIONS interweave five music and one dance performance with impressions
from everyday life at the residence. Camera, light, and space are playfully challenged.
The result is a film that shows less of a perfect staging and more of a
testimony to collective energy.
The film’s first public screening will take place as part of the Trial & Error conference in
Hanover. In keeping with the festival’s motto, the premiere will be carried by the spirit that
made the film itself possible: community and the celebration of experimentation.
