This electroacoustic set for laptop and electronics, emerges from Martina’s research on tuning systems and generative composition using the Halldorophone, conducted during her residency at Elektronmusikstudion in Stockholm in November 2023 and recently released as a double LP (Electroacoustic Works for Halldorophone, Karlrecords 2025). Rooted in her explorations on the instrument, this performance showcases compositions generated on Halldorophone and Computer. Using tetraphonic scales and tuned feedbacks, informed by generative systems and audio processing, Martina creates an interplay of harmonic frequencies, that morph into evolving, immersive soundscapes. Blurring the lines between control and chaos, her music unfolds as an exploration of time, tuning, and perception. From subtle, almost ambient beginnings, the performance crescendos into vast, resonant sound architectures, balancing restraint with overwhelming emotional force. Martina Bertoni is an experimental cellist and composer whose work bridges the emotional and physical realms of sound, inviting listeners to explore the liminal spaces where perception, sound, and emotion intersect. Classically trained, Martina has developed a distinctive practice centred on electronic music, drones, sound design, modern composition, and generative systems. Her compositions and performances expand and challenge perceptual relationships with control, spatiality, and emotional resonance. Martina’s creative process employs temporal and spatial proximities, utilising timelessness as a central compositional strategy. Through the articulation of sound-generated structures, her work investigates the relational and immersive potential of sound, fostering introspection and transformation. By crafting evocative emotional landscapes, she challenges normative listening paradigms and reimagines the experiential dimensions of space and sound. Beyond her artistic work, Martina’s cello and original works have been featured in numerous soundtracks for films, series, and documentaries. She is a Lecturer in Composition and Sound Design at the Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology in Berlin.

Martina Bertoni ist eine experimentelle Cellistin und Komponistin, deren Arbeit eine Brücke zwischen den emotionalen und physischen Bereichen des Klangs schlägt und die Zuhörer dazu einlädt, die Grenzbereiche zu erkunden, in denen Wahrnehmung, Klang und Emotion sich überschneiden. Martina hat eine klassische Ausbildung und eine unverwechselbare Praxis entwickelt, die sich auf elektronische Musik, Drones, Sounddesign, moderne Komposition und generative Systeme konzentriert.
